Caring Support Wins TechAlliance's First London Innovation Challenge

The job-matching platform stood out as one of the three winners of $20,000 to "advance their innovation and contribute to London’s economic recovery."

LONDON, ONTARIO. – Caring Support has won the first London Innovation Challenge, launched a few months ago by TechAlliance. The employment platform, along with two other companies from the city, was said to "have a unique focus on what it means to Reimagine Systems for People (the challenge's theme) and address system inequities with innovation."

The big prize consists of advisory support through TechAlliance’s venture growth team, plus $20,000 for each company to advance their innovation and contribute to London’s economic recovery.

All contestants who participated in the first edition of the challenge were evaluated by an adjudication panel integrated by London industry leaders. Ultimately, Caring Support and fellow winners Locorum and Zersent, were chosen for being "disruptive and innovative businesses that are strategically focused on fostering change,” according to Christina Fox, CEO of TechAlliance of Southwestern Ontario.

In their press release to announce the winners, TechAlliance's CEO also said that Caring Support and the other winning companies “have a deep understanding of what it means to innovate for London" and the ability to "drive immediate and equitable growth and prosperity in our local innovation economy.” 

Joseph Jongsma, CEO and founder of Caring Support, considered the award as a great source of encouragement and motivation to continue the company's path of innovation and expansion in North America, not just in Ontario or Canada.

"Innovation is what we do. We feel honoured by this award and excited to continue innovating and revolutionizing the current HR model in healthcare through our platform and other ventures. This is just the beginning," said Jongsma.

TechAlliance is Ontario's Regional Innovation Centre for London and surrounding areas. It provides advice, experience, and access to capital to launch startups, accelerate scale-ups and inspire talent. The organization is known for fostering a local entrepreneurial culture and accelerating growth for established tech companies while attracting the next generation of tech talent and innovative entrepreneurs.

After Caring Support launched its platform in 2020, the company has received major support from Tech Alliance, as the organization has helped them connect with other startups in London and create valuable entrepreneurial relationships, which they expect to continue doing in the future.
