Canadian Government Announces $78.5 Million Investment in Health Workforce Development

In response to unprecedented levels of burnout and turnover among healthcare workers, the Canadian government has announced a $78.5 million investment in initiatives aimed at training and retaining more health professionals. The three main projects focus on developing a competency assessment for international medical graduates, creating a national physician registry, and providing team-based primary care training for around 5,000 healthcare professionals​.
